April Adventure: Easter Fun!!!

Our adventure for this month is another family first: going out of town for Easter. I decided to bring the family to Whistler since I wanted to watch the Telus Fire and Ice Show 2012.

Beautiful drive up to Whistler

Not wanting the kids to miss out on easter celebrations, I browsed online for kids' activities and chanced upon the ongoing winter Farmers' Market in Squamish at the West Coast Heritage Railway Park, where they had the kids go for a scavenger hunt.

The scavenger hunt had us checking out the different vendors at the farmers' market

Homemade breads

Organic veggies

I packed ham sandwiches but we didn't get to eat them because we feasted on the awesome food that were for sale. Hubby bought these pakoras and spicy meatballs.

We feasted on truffle potato chips (we bought 2 big bags!), easter chocolate, cupcakes and the yummiest peanut butter marshmallow squares :) I bought this key lime pomegranate cordial to take home.

After eating, we went back on the road to Whistler - but not after hubby checked out the Whistler Blackcomb Outlet. Their winter clearance is on and he scored a nice jacket for $20!!! *insert hubby's big smile here*

We passed by Rainbow Park in Alta Lake but the lake was still icy so we decided to head straight to our resort although we were real early for our booking. Fortunately, our cabin was ready so we were able to check in before 3PM.

We rented a cabin at Riverside Resort

The loft bedroom was such a hit with the kiddos - they had so much fun going up and down the ladder :)

After taking gazillions of photos, we ate dinner and headed to Skiers Plaza  for the Fire and Ice Show. We got there at 7PM and saw the site getting prepped for the show.

Gearing up for the last night of the Telus Fire and Ice Show

The show started with warm-up runs

...then came out the fire spinners. It was so exhilarating seeing the fire start out small and in one place, becoming big and spreading as the fire spinners emerge from behind the mounds of snow. There was also a fire spinner on a zip line!

Presenting: Whistler's best skiers and riders!

The fireworks lighted up the sky beautifully :)

It was a beautiful show! There was an afterparty in one of the clubs in the village but it's adults-only after 8PM. We went back to our cabin and ate a late snack of japadog, truffle potato chips and green tea pomegranate before going to sleep.

We woke up the next day expecting rain as forecasted but we were pleasantly surprised to see the sun! In fact, this day was even more gorgeous than yesterday's weather.

We went for a walk in the upper village, and after the boys played at the playground, had some Cow's ice cream (when in Whistler - this is a must!).

What a gorgeous day to walk in the village!

boys will be boys :)

It was almost 12:30 in the afternoon when we left Whistler. We had lunch in Squamish and decided on the spur of the moment to pass by West Vancouver before going home. Me and the girls had an ulterior motive: check out the newest Ivivva store in Parc Royal, while the boys wanted to play badminton in Ambleside Park.

Mission, accomplished! ;)

I gotta admit, the kiddos are getting better at playing badminton

By the time we left for home, the sun was already starting to set and Ambleside Park was beginning to be covered in a beautiful glow. What a beautiful ending to this blessed weekend!

Bye for now, Ambleside Park!
