Boracay (Part 2)

Our room was pretty much exact as the one in the website of Alta Vista.  I love the private balcony which gave us a picturesque view of the infinity pool, the nearby golf course and yes, the sea! There were no nasty surprises here. What's featured in Alta Vista's website was what was there. I have read several accounts of some hotels where the rooms featured in their websites were nowhere near the actual rooms the guests check in to!
Our room has two double beds, writing desk, mini-fridge, microwave,  coffee maker and private balcony.

The view from our room was magnificent!
Wasting no time, me and hubby hopped on to the 4PM hotel shuttle that brought guests to the D' Mall. D' Mall was the hub of all the activities in Boracay. This was where the restaurants, shops and beachfront hotels were. Alta Vista, although situated away from the beaches, offer free shuttle to the D' Mall every hour.

The very first thing I noticed when we got off the shuttle was the powdery white sand that we were walking on. This was surreal! So not what I was expecting at all. I have heard that Boracay has great white sand, but realizing it was this fine?! It was indeed like powder! Soon we were out of the mall premises and right there in front of the famous White Beach of Boracay! Aaahhh! This was heaven! The water was the perfect hue of blues and whites. The beach was bustling with people who were enjoying nature at its best: some were sailing, swimming, playing in the sand, walking about, eating in the beachfront restaurants, or just mingling here and there. This was an island paradise this side of the globe, right here in the Philippines - weren't we so blessed!

Our first mission was to have dinner at Zuzuni. I have researched for the top restaurants in Boracay and being a Greek food fanatic, I wasn't about to pass on trying Zuzuni's fare. Unfortunately, Zuzuni didn't live up to our expectations. Talk about over-hyping on websites and under-delivering their promises? I think I found one right here at Zuzuni. Their food wasn't really that great and the fare was pricey - hubby ordered gyros (which was surprisingly small) and coke. I had the eggplant moussaka and green mango shake, and we shared the chocolate sin for our dessert. Our bill (including tip) came up to almost P1200! The only thing that redeemed them was the dessert. Hands-down, it was really good and I would come back here, only for that. I understand that being in the beachfront location can attribute to the price of the food in the restaurants here, but please justify those prices in some way! Hmmm...let me think, how about the taste of your food? It wouldn't hurt either if Zuzuni could add on some placemats and tablecloths to make their al fresco dining on the beach, worth their price. A little could go a long way.
Hubby's gyros and my eggplant moussaka.

After that disappointing dinner, we decided to head back to the hotel to take a dip in the infinity pool, rest a bit, relax and freshen up, then come back to the beach later to check out Boracay's famous nightlife.
